Indian migrants surge into US via Canadian border

These guides use social media like TikTok to find customers. The people who want to enter the U.S. pay these guides a lot of money, sometimes as much as $5,000, to help them get through dangerous places. The U.S. border agency found that the number of people coming into the U.S. this way from Canada has gone up a lot, and most of the people are from India.

In one area that includes parts of Quebec, New York, and Vermont, the number of people caught trying to enter the U.S. this way went up by 526% in just one year. The border agency says that this is happening because groups that do illegal things are taking advantage of the people who want to come to the U.S.

Many people from India think they will have a better life in the U.S. because it is hard to get permission to come to the U.S. legally, and it takes a long time to go through the process. Also, it is becoming harder for students to come to Canada, and things are difficult in India.
