Afghan women are erased by the Taliban

- The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan condemned the oppressive laws imposed by the Taliban, which restrict the freedom of Afghan people, especially women and girls.
- The UN and the EU called for the immediate repeal of these laws and highlighted that they hinder the normalization of relations with Afghanistan.
- The Taliban denounced the criticism from the West and banned the UN special rapporteur on human rights from entering the country.
The Taliban has recently enforced new laws severely limiting the rights of Afghan women. These laws require women to cover their bodies and faces completely when leaving the house, and they also prohibit women from speaking in public. The president of Free Afghanistan has expressed concern that these laws are attacking the very existence of women, while the founder of Begum TV has emphasized the severe impact on women’s rights.
