57 Quota Reform Bangladeshi Activist Held in UAE Pardoned

The pardon granted by United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the 57 Bangladeshi activists, who were convicted by the Federal Court, is a significant development. This decision will soon lead to their return to Bangladesh.
The Chief Adviser said this at a Tuesday (September 3) morning meeting. This information was also sent from the Chief Adviser’s press wing.
A court in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has sentenced 57 Bangladeshis to different jail terms for demonstrating in solidarity with the quota reform movement. Three of them were sentenced to life imprisonment, 53 to 10 years, and the remaining one to 11 years.
The state-run Emirati News Agency (WAM) said at the time that they would be deported at the end of their prison terms.
