Farhad Mazhar: “Tarique Rahman must lead nation-building”

Bangladesh needs to be rebuilt. Eminent writer, philosopher, researcher, and intellectual Farhad Mazhar hoped that Tarique Rahman would lead the cause.
He said this in an interview with a private television station on Friday (September 27). However, he thinks criticism must be allowed to take over the country’s leadership.
In the special program titled ‘Bola Na Bola’, Marhad Mazhar said, “Tarique Rahman has an important responsibility of a political party. He is trying not to do politics of vengeance. This is very important. It attracts young people in many ways. Whether you like Tarique Rahman or not, he is accepted by the youth.”
Farhad Mazhar said, “he (Tarique Rahman) has already been able to give a statement (opinion) about what the constitution of the future can be. BNP has no reason to drag the 1972 constitution. BNP can say that there is no need for the 1972 constitution for this country. We will formulate a constitution suitable for our country, and we will cooperate with this government to do so.”
The eminent intellectual said, “I will tell the youth, if you wish, you will not be able to erase Tarique by campaigning against him. It won’t. It is also a legal mistake to say this. If they say it is wrong, we want to say that one fascist is gone; we don’t want to bring another fascist. This has been said about the BNP. We don’t need to say that. We should say that this is our country, and we should demand from BNP that you also have a responsibility to build this country.”
Farhad Mazhar said, “Bangladesh will have to be rebuilt. It will come. You can’t stop it. In that case, we are very hopeful that Tarique will take the leadership. If he wants to take that lead, he has to listen to us. You have to criticize.”
