KNA member arrested over bank robbery in Thanchi

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a KNA member in connection with a bank robbery in Thanchi upazila of Bandarban on Sunday night. His name is Ram Ja Thang Pateng (40). He was arrested on Tuesday (September 10) evening.

On Tuesday evening, BGB’s Bolipara Battalion (38 BGB), based on its intelligence information, found that a listed member of KNA involved in the robbery of Thanchi Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank on April 3 is staying in a house in Shahjahanpara TOB area of BGB. After receiving the news, a ‘B-type’ patrol team of BGB surrounded the house in the evening under the direction of the battalion commander.

Later, another patrol team of 30 members from the Bolipara Battalion arrived to assist the patrol team. After 8 pm, BGB members raided the house and arrested Ram Ja Thang Pateng from under the bed of the house. The arrested KNA member is the son of Sapkhob of Thanchi-3 Ward Shahjahanpara TOB area.BGB’s Bolipara 38 Battalion Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Lt Col Taimur Hasan Khan identified the arrested KNF member as Ram Ja Thang Pateng, 40. Ram Ja Thang Pateng was arrested from under the bed of a house in Shahjahan Para based on secret sources.

He will be handed over to law enforcers on Wednesday, September 11 after primary interrogation, he said.

He added that Ram Ja Thang Pateng was found to be involved in the bank robbery of Thanchi that took place on April 3.
