Anti-Corruption seeks information on 38 officials of US, UK missions and other 8

Information of 38 officials and employees of Bangladesh embassies in 10 countries, including the USA and the UK, has been sought on charges of corruption, abuse of power and financial loss to the government. On Tuesday, a letter was sent from the Integrated District Office of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Dhaka-1 seeking information. ACC sources confirmed the matter.
These countries are the United States, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Saudi Arabia, China, Dubai, Italy, Switzerland and the Philippines.
The ACC has sought information about the previous workplaces of these officials, the branch where they served and their status in the fiscal year 2016-17.
According to the letter, investigations are underway into allegations of irregularities and corruption against the ambassadors, chancery chiefs or chief consular officers posted in the USA, the UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia, China, Dubai, Italy, Switzerland and the Philippines, secretaries of the ministries and other officials and employees working in the Bangladeshi embassies or high commissions.
The ACC has been requested to provide the current workplace, designation, permanent address and current address of these officials to the ACC by September 10.
