The 15th death anniversary of UPDF leader Shaheed Ruikhoi Marma observed

UPDF central leader Shaheed Ruikhai Marma’s death anniversary was observed with due dignity.

On October 2, 2024, at 10 a.m., the Barmachhari Union of Lakshmichhari Upazila UPDF’s Lakshmichhari unit organized a memorial meeting at Hudukchhari.

Ruikhai Marma was vocal against Land grabbing and injustice in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. On October 2, 2009, he was killed. Army-sponsored terrorists were believed to be the suspects of his murder.

Before the memorial meeting, a temporary memorial was erected in memory of Shaheed Ruikhoi Marma. Wreaths were laid, and tributes were paid. First of all, UPDF’s Lakshmichhari upazila, Under the leadership of the unit organizer Saral Chakma, tribute by placing a wreath at the temporary memorial. Offerings are made. Then, three associate organizations of UPDF, martyrs’ families, and local Tributes were paid to Shaheed Ruikhoi Marma with wreaths and flowers.

Later, UPDF organizer Saral Chakma presided over the memorial meeting, and Pahari Laxmichhari Upazila Chhatra Parishad President Joy Chakma moderated the program Lakshmichhari Upazila President Secretary of Jubo Forum Chakma, former member Uhlaching Marma on behalf of the locals, Hudukchhari High School Headmaster Achaipro Marma. Lakshmichhari Upazila, President of Chittagong Hill Tracts Women’s Association Mandira Tanti, was also present.

At the beginning of the meeting, one minute of silence was observed in memory of Shaheed Ruikhoi Marma.

Speakers at the memorial meeting remembered Shaheed Ruikhai Marma and said that He was a fearless warrior in the struggle for the fate of the hill people and social change. He is a political martyr. In addition to his activities, he has done various development works in the area, including establishing schools and temples. His contribution will never be forgotten by the locals and the Jumma people. Speakers talked about his murder, Lakshmichhari, Manikchari, and Ramgarh, including Guimara and Matiranga.

The speakers learned from the cherished spirit of Shaheed Ruikhai Marma and the existence of the nation. He urged the new generation to join the struggle to protect and realize their rights.
