Apple Now Has Its Own ‘Magic Eraser’ for iPhones

Apple has introduced a new generative AI feature called “Clean Up” as part of its Apple Intelligence suite. This feature allows users to remove unwanted subjects and objects from their photos. Although similar features had previously been introduced by Google, this marks the first generative AI-powered object-removal tool for iPhone users. “Clean Up” is currently available in the third developer beta release for iOS 18.1, which is set to introduce Apple Intelligence to compatible iPhones. However, using beta software poses risks as it may contain undiscovered bugs and glitches, so users should proceed at their own risk.

To remove unwanted elements from your photos with the latest developer beta of iOS 18.1, open the image in Photos and tap Edit. Look for the new Clean Up button in the bottom toolbar. You can use this feature to get rid of photobombers, strangers in the background, or unwanted objects in your photos. Just tap, brush, or circle the items you want to remove.
