High Commission in KL Urged Awami League Workers to ‘Manage’ Protesting Students

Kuala Lumpur ( Special Correspondent)—When Bangladesh was in turmoil regarding the anti-discrimination movement, its heat also spread among expatriate Bangladeshis. Bangladeshi expat students in Malaysia also started expressing solidarity from their respective places. The students then decided to form a human chain before the High Commission on July 19 and submit a memorandum.
This news reached the ears of the High Commission. At the same time, Deputy High Commissioner Khorshed Alam Khastogir contacted Awami League leaders and activists, and several Chhatra League and Jubo League leaders and activists confirmed to us. He then instructed them to resist these students outside the High Commission. The truth of that statement is found in an audio message from Awami League leader Rezaul Karim Reza. He said the Bangladesh High Commission had requested them to resist them outside the safe zone.
